Bush gave $2,500 to Lone Star Rising PAC, which is supporting Talarico in his bid against Republican Ken Paxton. Although her father is Republican, the donation is consistent with Bush’s past political activity. She drew headlines after campaigning for former Vice President Kamala Harris during her 2024 Democratic presidential bid.
Bush told People Magazine in 2010 that she did not identify with either political party, according to Politico. She has been a vocal supporter of women’s rights and said she backed the Harris-Walz campaign because she hoped “they’ll move our country forward and protect women’s rights.” She was among a group of daughters of former Republican politicians — some of whom were politicians themselves, such as former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming — who supported Harris.
The American-Statesman reached out to the Talarico campaign, which declined to comment on the contribution.
According to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, Barbara is the NBA’s senior vice president of social impact and inclusion and co-founded Global Health Corps, a nonprofit health organization.
