BBIX, a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, entered into a business partnership agreement with PHOENIX Communications to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (OCX), a cloud-based network service.
With this partnership agreement, BBIX will add an OCX connection point at PXC Kumamoto (Kumamoto City) on June 1, 2026.
OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX.
OCX offers on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.
Following the opening of its OCX connection points, PXC Hiroshima and PXC Kochi, in March 2026, Phoenix will expand its collaboration by opening a new point at PXC Kumamoto. Through this collaboration, Phoenix will expand its nationwide infrastructure network via OCX and aims to streamline the upstream networks for the regional ISP businesses operated by PHOENIX Group subsidiaries WICOM and CBBS, and to promote regional digital transformation (DX).
Through their collaboration, BBIX, BBSakura, and Phoenix will provide the region with a comfortable Internet environment while further advancing the digital transformation of government and promoting regional DX.
