Dallas restaurant The Porch, a staple on Knox-Henderson for more than 15 years, has closed, its chief marketing officer confirmed on Sept. 3, 2025.

“The restaurant simply couldn’t sustain long-term operations in today’s challenging financial climate,” reads a company statement shared with The Dallas Morning News.

CMO Jeny Bania cited a “perfect storm of losses.”

Although the restaurant was once part of the identity of Dallas’ Knox-Henderson neighborhood, the restaurant closed briefly in 2023 for a facelift and menu upgrade. The relaunched Porch had more of an emphasis on the bar and on late-night snacks, an effort to dip into the bustling booze business that seems to be thriving on other areas of Henderson Avenue.

They launched a $5 cocktail deal at happy hour on weekdays and placed an emphasis on reasonably-priced martinis.

For many, however, The Porch was better known for its comfort food and brunch. The News called it a “a take-your-mom kind of place,” where roasted tomato soup, four-cheese grilled cheese and smoked mac and cheese reigned supreme.

The Porch’s heyday was in the late 2000s and early 2010s, when it was neighbors with Fireside Pies, Cuba Libre, Hibiscus and Victor Tangos.

None of those restaurants are still open on Henderson Avenue today.

The restaurant was owned by Headington Cos., the group that operates downtown Dallas restaurants Commissary and Mirador. Their brasserie CBD Provisions, at the base of the Joule Hotel, is closed for renovations. Headington plans to open a bar called Shyboy on Dallas’ Main Street in fall 2025, then follow it with a new Mirador Cafe in Fort Worth in November 2025.

Bania said employees from The Porch were reassigned to other restaurants or paid severance.

And they aren’t shutting the screen door on The Porch permanently, she said.

“There are no plans for reopening The Porch any time soon, but it’s one of our favorites without a doubt, so it may find a new home somewhere someday — we’ll see.”

The Porch was at 2912 N. Henderson Ave., Dallas. It is closed as of Sept. 3, 2025.
