The college football season is over and the Ohio State Buckeyes have been crowned national champions after defeating Notre Dame in the national championship game.
The end of the College Football Playoffs also harkens the release of the final AP and US LBM Coaches Polls, where the Big 12 remained well-represented despite not sending any teams to the CFP semifinals.
Arizona State and BYU both closed their seasons strong, with BYU defeating Colorado in the Alamo Bowl and Arizona State losing its College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup to Texas in dramatic overtime fashion. Cameron Skattebo was otherworldly against the Longhorns, carrying 30 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns while also catching eight passes for 99 yards and completing a pass for 42 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort.

Iowa State won the Pop-Tarts Bowl over Miami 42-41 behind three passing touchdown by Rocco Becht and another pair of rushing TDs from Carson Hansen. The Cyclones finished the year 11-3 under Matt Campbell after a disappointing 7-6 2023 season.
Colorado, meanwhile, found itself on the fringe of the polls. Travis Hunter, a presumed top-five pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, closed out his Heisman-winning season with four catches for 106 yards and a touchdown against the Cougars, whereas another top prospect in Shedeur Sanders went 16 of 23 for 208 yards and two touchdowns, with a pair of interceptions as well.
