Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley has identified Brook Lopez as a “dream target” for the Boston Celtics in upcoming free agency. Lopez has a team option with the Los Angeles Clippers this offseason.

“If the Los Angeles Clippers complete the transition away from their veteran core, Lopez could wind up as an affordable option (for Boston),” Buckley wrote on Monday. “His three-point touch would keep the offense properly spaced, and he’d add even more bulk and paint protection to what’s already a dominant defense.”

Lopez has delivered a steady 2025-26 campaign for the Clips. Through 64 games played, the 37-year-old center is averaging 7.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 20.9 minutes per contest while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from beyond the arc. His spacing and defensive presence have supported the Clippers as they contend for a play-in tournament berth.

On March 22 against the Mavericks, Lopez achieved a unique NBA milestone during a win, becoming the only player ever to combine 18,000 career points, 2,000 blocks, and 1,000 three-pointers.

Selected 10th overall by the New Jersey (now Brooklyn) Nets in 2008, Lopez spent nine seasons there and earned All-Star status in 2013. He’s that franchise’s all-time leading scorer.

After one year with the Los Angeles Lakers, he joined the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018, playing a pivotal role in their 2021 title and securing two All-Defensive Team honors. Across 1,169 career games spanning 18 seasons, he holds averages of 15.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. The veteran big man’s evolution from interior scorer to floor-stretching defender has prolonged his impact at the highest level.
