The Toronto Blue Jays are on the cusp of cementing a championship roster for the 2026 season.

The World Series runners-up have been busy this offseason, spending a total of $337 million in free agency thus far. While the Blue Jays have practically outspent every other team this winter, the front office is expected to make at least one more impactful move.

Could it be orchestrating a reunion with Blue Jays free agent Bo Bichette? According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, there’s reason to believe Toronto won’t bring back the 27-year-old, who is one of the many big-name free agents remaining on the market.

“The Blue Jays still have the door wide open for infielder Bo Bichette to return, but considering they couldn’t sign him to an extension last season, and have gotten nowhere in two months since he has become a free agent, a reunion appears more unlikely by the day,” Nightengale writes.

“The Blue Jays certainly aren’t desperate to bring him back knowing Okamoto could be their primary third baseman, shifting Ernie Clement to second base with Andres Gimenez at shortstop and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. entrenched at first base.”

As the 2026 season quickly approaches, several big-name free agents remain available. The list includes the crown jewel of the free agent class, superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker.

It appears the Blue Jays have their sights set on landing Tucker as they are the favorite to sign the 28-year-old this offseason.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets are also in pursuit of Tucker, but the Blue Jays have become a free agent destination in 2026 and for the foreseeable future.

While other teams are in the mix for the outfielder, Tucker began his free agency process by visiting the Blue Jays’ spring training facility and could end his journey with a landmark deal in Toronto.
