Bo Nickal is of the opinion that it is inevitable that he will one day fight Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC cage.
The Penn State wrestling legend and undefeated UFC middleweight has taken a slow burn throughout his journey in mixed martial arts thus far, with the 28-year-old most recently scoring his biggest win to date against the veteran Paul Craig at the UFC’s annual event in Madison Square Garden this past November.
But as he advances up the 185-pound ladder, it seems sure that his path will cross with the also unbeaten Chimaev — and when it does, Nickal is confident that his American style of wrestling will trump that of Chimaev’s.
“I think that he’s good but his biggest thing that’s going to crush him in a fight against me is, dude, you’re going to get tired,” Nickal said of Chimaev to Chael Sonnen, as noted by Bloody Elbow.
“You’re [going to gas out],” he added, addressing Chimaev. “You’re not going to take me dow. You’re going to have to strike me. I’m probably going to be able to take you down.
“Here’s the difference between Khamzat and I. [I have] zero emotion. I’m competing, I’m here to win. Him, he’s charged up, he’s screaming, he’s yelling… But guess what? If you want to fight and beat the guys who are the best in the world, you have to do it with your brain.”
Chimaev was last seen in the cage in late October where he defeated former middlweight champin Robert Whittaker by first-round submission.
