The first domino of the Celtics offseason has officially fallen after they traded Jrue Holiday to the Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks. But don’t expect the Celtics to be done after just this first trade.

The Celtics “remain engaged in trade talks surrounding multiple key players on the roster,” per ESPN’s Shams Charania. That’s no surprise as the C’s were long expected to shed salary this offseason. Holiday was just one of a few players on the roster who made sense to move this summer.

Holiday, 35, rejoins Portland after originally being acquired from the Bucks by the organization in the Damian Lillard trade. Holiday was then re-rerouted to the Celtics, where he played a key role to bring the 2024 NBA championship to Boston. The veteran guard now joins a Blazers squad that surprised over the second half of the season.

Holiday was heavily involved in trade rumors leading up to the deal with multiple West teams interested in the two-time champion’s services. Other potential pieces who could be traded include guys like Kristaps Porzingis or Sam Hauser, who have also been in trade rumors. The Celtics have plenty of options in front of them as they retool their roster going forward.

Projects include work on the Central Tri-State Tollway (I-294), the new I-490 Tollway, and other systemwide improvements. “Construction projects are underway throughout the Tollway system… These contracts will enable us to keep other parts of our system in good repair,” said Illinois Tollway Executive Director Cassaundra Rouse. June contract awards include: Construction contracts: • $20.5 million to ICC Group Inc., Elburn, for bridge rehabilitation on the Mile Long Bridge along the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355). • $4.1 million to Foundation Mechanics, Chicago, for drainage improvements on the Tri-State Tollway (I-94/I-294) from Townline Road to Half Day Road and at Walters Avenue. Professional engineering services: • $5.6 million to Thomas Engineering Group, Oak Park, for construction management of intelligent transportation system upgrades on I-294. • $5 million to Globetrotters Engineering Corp., Chicago, for on-call construction management on the I-490 Tollway. • $3 million to WBK Engineering, St. Charles, for on-call systemwide design services. The contracts include participation from 20 certified disadvantaged, minority- and women-owned business enterprise (D/M/WBE) firms and four veteran-owned firms. D/M/WBE participation ranges from 18.09% to 95% per contract, while veteran-owned business participation ranges from 2.14% to 5.83%. Engineering contracts are awarded through a qualifications-based selection process under Illinois law, while construction contracts are awarded through competitive bidding.
