bp pulse, bp’s electric vehicle (EV) charging business, opened a charging hub in Houston, 1.5 miles from the William P. Hobby Airport in partnership with Hertz.

Featuring 40 ultrafast EV charging bays equipped with 150-killowatt direct current (DC) fast chargers, the hub is designed to meet the needs of ride-hail drivers, airport rental car customers and local EV drivers.

The site also offers a covered canopy and free Wi-Fi.

This launch builds on bp pulse’s plans to install EV charging hubs at airport locations across the country in collaboration with Hertz. This includes the new charging hub at Los Angeles International Airport, the largest bp pulse location in the U.S., and recently opened hubs at San Francisco International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport.

“We are thrilled to open our latest EV charging hub near Houston’s Hobby Airport,” said Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas. “This is another example of how we’re meeting EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets where they are, across metro and airport locations like this one.”

To celebrate the new hub, bp pulse will hold a launch event offering drivers the opportunity to charge their EV for 1 cent per kilowatt per hour on Nov. 12.

In early 2024, bp pulse opened its first U.S. EV charging hub at bp’s Houston headquarters.

“As our rideshare drivers often turn to EVs, having fast, reliable charging near key locations like Hobby Airport makes a real difference,” said Doria Holbrook, executive vice president of mobility at Hertz. “This new bp pulse hub offers the convenient access and ultrafast charging our drivers need to stay powered and productive, while also serving the broader EV community in Houston.”

Additionally, bp pulse is building its network across a variety of site types in bp’s retail network of bp, Amoco, ampm, Thorntons and TravelCenters of America locations. In addition to convenience stores, many of these sites provide drivers with amenities while charging, such as restaurants and car washes. The company also recently announced a strategic agreement with Waffle House to add charging to their locations from 2026.
