The Braves don’t have any stakes here in the last two games, so while it would certainly be nice to grab another win, the real goal is to stay healthy, in rhythm, and not overworked. Brent Suter will start today’s game and will hope to cover some innings in the absence of Martin Perez. Suter has been able to cover 3.0 innings many times this season and has covered 3.2 innings twice, which will probably be his goal today. Atlanta will probably let him go as long as he can regardless of results.
Meanwhile, Miami will throw their own opener in what looks like a bullpen game. This game really is going to have a minor league feel with no real stakes and bullpen games for each team. Cover innings and stay healthy. Anything else is gravy.
