Padres, Astros and New York teams all winners at MLB trade deadline

USA TODAY Sports’ Bob Nightengale breaks down the biggest winners and losers at the MLB trade deadline.

The Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds about to be part of the most-attended Major League Baseball game in history.

The MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee is set for Saturday, Aug. 2 and it is expected to break records. More than 85,000 tickets have already been sold after the well-known racetrack was transformed over the past two months into a baseball venue. The previous MLB record for single-game attendance, set in 1954 at Cleveland Stadium in a game against the New York Yankees, is 84,587.

The Braves have endured a disappointing season and star Ronald Acuna Jr. was recently placed on the injured list (calf strain). Atlanta got a wild 12-11 win over the Reds in Thursday’s series opener in which both teams scored eight runs in the eighth inning. They meet again in Cincinnati on Friday afternoon before heading to Tennessee, a state hosting its first MLB game. The Reds are in the midst of the National League wild card race and will be the designated home team for Saturday’s special event.

There are still tickets available for the one-of-a-kind series finale between the Braves and Reds. Bristol Motor Speedway was the site of the highest-attended college football game in history when more than 150,000 people watched Tennessee face Virginia Tech in 2016.

But if you can’t be there for history, the MLB Speedway Classic will be broadcast nationally. Here’s how to watch:
