Henrico Federal Credit Union is moving its Short Pump branch farther west, to 4419 Greybull Drive, officials announced recently. It will be located next to Honda of Short Pump closer to the Henrico-Goochland line off West Broad Street. The new location will replace HFCU’s current Short Pump location on Pouncey Tract Road, across from Short Pump Middle School, which opened in 2018. The Short Pump branch has experienced growth that necessitated the move to a more accessible and modern facility, company officials said. Click here to read more.


Insurance provider Richmond National Group plans to expand its operations in Henrico’s West End, investing $1.75 million and creating 75 new jobs at its Glen Allen office, Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced March 4. Founded in 2020, Richmond National Group specializes in property and casualty insurance designed for small and mid-sized businesses that have difficulty securing coverage in the standard insurance market. The company established its headquarters in the Richmond region in part because of the area’s strong financial services and insurance workforce, according to Richmond National President and CEO Joseph C. Comcast opened a new Xfinity retail location Feb. 20 in the Laburnum Park Shopping Center in Eastern Henrico. Customers can explore broadband, mobile and home technology offerings through interactive displays at the store. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Click here to read more.


Sippa, a drive-thru-only drink shop specializing in “dirty” sodas, is planning to open this spring at 1415 Eastridge Road near Regency mall, Richmond Magazine recently reported. The concept is from spouses and Salt Lake City natives Michelle and David Wride. Dirty sodas, a trend born in Utah’s Latter-day Saints communities, are classic soft drinks mixed with creams, flavored syrups and other add-ons. The shop also plans to sell energy drinks, fruit drinks and sparkling water, all with the option to customize. Drinks will cost $1 to $4 depending on size and modifications.


Sandbox VR is planning to open later this month at Short Pump Town Center, Richmond BizSense recently reported. The virtual reality venue will take over the 12,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Go! Calendars, Toys & Games on the upper level near Dillard’s, though Sandbox will only be using about half of it at first. Admission will cost $55 to $60 per person depending on the game, which include zombie shooters, pirate-themed adventures, and experiences in the worlds of Stranger Things and Squid Games.


Commonwealth Commercial Partners, LLC recently announced the following commercial lease transactions in Henrico County: The Chartwell Law Offices, LLP – leased 1,869 SF at 4198 Cox Road, Suite 102 (Eric Hammond, Eliza Izard and Russell Wyatt represented the landlord); Progressive Casualty Insurance Company – renewed its lease of 17,321 SF at 200 Westgate Parkway, Suites 300 and 310 (Eric Hammond, Eliza Izard and Russell Wyatt represented the landlord); Lucid Med Spa – renewed its lease of 1,611 SF at 11551 Nuckols Road (Eric Hammond, Russell Wyatt and Sam Edwards represented the landlord); Summer Lashe LLC – leased 679 SF at 5102 Richmond Henrico Turnpike (Todd Buttner represented the landlord); and Moorefield Wealth Management – leased 1,231 SF at 301 Concourse Boulevard (Sam Edwards, Russell Wyatt and Eric Hammond represented the landlord).


Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer recently announced the following commercial lease transactions in Henrico County: R.M.I., Inc. – renewed its lease of 1,934 SF of retail space at 8923 Patterson Avenue (Michael A. Shaia represented the landlord); and Little Tikes Family Care II, LLC – renewed its lease of 1,640 SF of retail space at 3619 Mechanicsville Turnpike (Michael A. Shaia represented the landlord).
