Columbia REA is accepting applications for its 2025 legacy grants until 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10. Recipients could be awarded anywhere from $50,000 to $250,000 in grant funding.
Eligible applicants must either be legal entities, sole proprietors or units of government.
Applicants must also provide detailed project plans. Acceptable projects must either improve facilities, infrastructure, education, technology or health care in rural areas or contribute to quality of life.

Key Technology
Key Technology, a Walla Walla-based company, will introduce its COMPASS optical sorter at the Pack Expo Las Vegas conference. The sorter detects and rejects food products with defects such as dark spots, discolorations and bruises.
Jack Lee, Duravant’s group president, wrote in a news release, “Key has been at the forefront of potato chip sorting and handling technology for decades, and COMPASS represents the next evolution in our commitment to this industry.”
