BOSTON (TND) — Three people were taken to the hospital due to a car fire in the Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston Friday, according to authorities.
The Boston Fire Department shared video of the scene, which showed at least one car engulfed in flames.
In a social media post, the department said three cars and six people were involved, with three transported to the hospital in ambulances. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Photos showed the charred remains of two cars, as well as an SUV, as authorities worked the scene.
WBZ also shared images, including footage of smoke billowing from the tunnel’s exhaust pipe.
The department said the fire broke out around 4 p.m., noting firefighters “were able to quickly extinguish 2 of the cars” adding that the other car was a hybrid, so it took longer to extinguish.
Authorities also said “companies did a great job to get access to from both ends of the tunnel to get water & extinguish the fire.”
