GREENWOOD, Ind. – Law Student Cassie Carr of the Washington and Lee University women’s track & field program was honored as a Third Team Academic All-America® selection, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Carr earns her fourth consecutive Academic All-America honor from CSC after previously garnering Second Team honors the last three seasons. She joined Becca Taylor ’09 as the only multi-time recipients of the prestigious award in program history while marking as the seventh honor for the program since 1996.
The Girard, Pennsylvania, native completed her second year at the Washington and Lee University School of Law while also competing in the outdoor track season. On the track, Carr competed for the Blue and White, helping the team secure its second straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor title. She claimed the ODAC title and set the program program record in the 800 meter with a time of. 2:15.37, which she then reset a week later at the Hill City Twilight meet, crossing the line in 2:13.30. She also secured the ODAC title in the 1,500 meter running a time of 4:39.36, and posted a personal best and second all-time mark at Widener running 4:30.50. She was named the ODAC Outdoor Athlete of the Meet, First Team All-ODAC and First Team All-Region in both events as well as a VaSID First Team All-State Selection in Middle-Distance.
