The San Antonio River Walk’s oldest restaurant is celebrating its 80th year of serving the city with a meal deal sure to draw crowds. Casa Rio announced on Tuesday that it will lower its signature Regular Plate to just 70 cents for one day only.
Instagram users who follow Casa Rio may not have seen the restaurant’s Tuesday announcement, but we’re here to confirm that the restaurant is rolling back the Regular Plate’s price to just 70 cents on Thursday, October 1. The deal will be available to dine-in customers only, according to the business.
“1946 called… we brought back the prices. OCTOBER 1ST ONLY, enjoy our Regular Plate for just 70 cents as we celebrate 80 years of Casa Rio!” the restaurant wrote on social media.
Casa Rio’s Regular Plate has been on the menu since the beginning and offers a little bit of everything the restaurant is known for. It includes a cheese enchilada, a pork tamale, chili con carne, rice and refried beans. The plate normally costs $12, so the limited-time 70-cent price is a huge difference.
MySA last caught up with Casa Rio’s co-owner and vice president, Elizabeth Lyons Houston, in August to talk about the restaurant’s plan to expand with the addition of an adjoining bar concept, The Night Heron. At the time, Lyons Houston said the Casa Rio team aims to welcome customers to the new bar by the end of 2027.
