Our Adam Levitan devised a tried and true method for reviewing his NFL DFS cash lineups every week. And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. My goal here is simply to apply Adam’s structure to PGA DFS cash lineups.

To steal directly from Adam, I play around 50-75% of my action each week in “cash games.” Cash games refer to any contest in which roughly 50% of the field gets paid out, such as head-to-heads, double-ups, or 50/50s.

Each week, I’ll review my cash-game lineup in this space. Sometimes I’ll lose, but hopefully I’ll win more often. Either way, I’ll post it here and give you my thought process. For more on PGA cash-game strategy, see my How to Beat PGA DFS Cash Games article.

Each year, I find the Farmers a tricky slate for cash games for several reasons. For starters, it’s the first event of the season played on a major championship-quality course, and it’s therefore also the first event of the season that isn’t expected to be a birdie fest. I tend to approach these more difficult events slightly differently for cash purposes because they present a unique test to the golfers, and having a DFS lineup with several golfers finishing high on the leaderboard can sometimes be more important than getting 6/6 through the cut.

Second, for cash games, I generally focus on the golfers I am most confident will make the cut, which typically boils down to golfers who are consistently accurate ball strikers and keep the ball in play. But at Torrey, there’s little penalty for wayward drives, and it has been one of the few courses over the years where driving distance has proven to be much more important than driving accuracy, even for cash purposes.

Overall, I was less confident in my approach to building a cash lineup this week and felt that there was more potential than usual for high volatility.
