UTICA, N.Y. — The Mohawk Valley Latino Association is set to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with its annual Latino American Festival.

The event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 24, from noon to 8 p.m. at Hanna Park, located at 1 Kennedy Plaza in Utica.

This year’s theme is “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.”

The free, family-friendly festival will feature live performances and music. Attendees can also enjoy a domino tournament.

Children’s activities include a Latino countries parade, relay races and face painting.

Ethnic foods, vendors and cultural displays will be available.

The festival typically welcomes more than 500 guests from the Mohawk Valley and beyond.

Proceeds support the Mohawk Valley Latino Association’s mission to provide vital programs and services to the Latino community.
