On this special day the Museum will be providing kids crafts, self-paced discovery backpack activities, artifact show-and-tell stations, and an outdoor detective archaeology program from 10 am until 3 pm.
In addition, S.A.L.T. (Study of Ancient Lifeways and Technologies) will be demonstrating early technology skills during their monthly membership meeting.
Guests can also explore the ancestral village site of S’edav Va’aki along the outdoor interpretive trail where they will learn about the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People and their descendants, the O’odham, who today share knowledge and stories about their homeland.
All activities and programs are included with your museum admission.
This year’s theme, “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities,” encourages museum goers to reenvision the role of museums as catalysts for community connections; safe places for sharing and discovering new ideas; and caretakers of cultural identity. This day inspires the world to view museums as “participants in shaping sustainable and inclusive communities.”
