Inside 9 Golf opens new golf simulator in Fair Oaks Ranch

A new golf simulator has officially opened in the Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch area, a spot that co-owners Brendan Bean and Chad Taylor said is unique to the region.

Inside 9 Golf officially opened Dec. 30, Bean announced in a Facebook post, situated at 27650 I-10 W., Ste. 207, in the Napa Oaks Plaza near Fair Oaks Ranch.

Featuring simulators, co-working, and community gathering, Bean said he wanted to create a space for locals to enjoy.

Northside ISD prepares virtual high school to meet student needs

On Dec. 9, the Northside ISD board of trustees received a briefing on the district’s forthcoming virtual high school program.

Currently known as Northside Connect, the program will be a virtual high school that offers a series of rigorous courses, which offer greater flexibility for students within the district.

NISD Superintendent John Craft said the district began looking into forming the program for grades ninth through 12th after the approach was recently legislated by the state.

“We are actively aggressively pursuing constructing and preparing to launch a virtual high school for next school year,” he said. “I can say this with full confidence, we will not be alone in this venture … this is going to be a very transformative approach.”

Frozen yogurt shop closes at Creekside in New Braunfels after 15 years

A locally-owned yogurt franchise location has closed its doors in New Braunfels.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt—located at 160 Creekside Way, Ste. 502, at the Creekside Town Center—officially closed its doors Dec. 29.

“My landlord has decided not to renew the lease, giving us no other option but to close our doors,” Franchisee Nusha Bladinieres said in a Dec. 26 Facebook post detailing the closure.

2025 thoroughfare plan update aims to guide future growth

As New Braunfels continues to grow, one of the main tools used by the city to guide roadway planning is its thoroughfare plan, which saw its first major update Dec. 8.

The plan acts as a way for the city to build roads more efficiently as growth occurs, said Garry Ford, New Braunfels director of transportation and capital improvements.

“[The thoroughfare plan] sets the framework of our city that provides connectivity for vehicles, but also connectivity for emergency access,” Ford said. “Then, as development comes in, they start providing right-of-way dedication for that network.”
