Restaurant Brings Approximately 100 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
SCARSDALE, N.Y. (Aug. 6, 2024) – The first Chick-fil-A® restaurant in Greenburgh will begin serving the community on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Joshua Riley as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Scarsdale.
Located in the Midway Shopping Center at 913B Central Park Ave., Chick-fil-A Scarsdale will be open for dine-in, carry-out, catering and delivery from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In Greenburgh, Riley will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Scarsdale community’s needs.
Riley started his Chick-fil-A journey 15 years ago as a Team Member while attending Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and it was not long before he began to picture a long-term future with the company. A decade after stepping into what he thought would be a temporary summer job, Riley grew with the business and eventually joined the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program, which gives future leaders the chance to learn alongside local Owner-Operators around the U.S. and Canada. During this experience, Riley spent several months on assignment in the Tri-State area and fell in love with life in New York. Riley knew in his heart this was the place that he and his family were meant to be. Today, nearly two decades after his first shift as a Team Member, Riley is delighted to open the doors to Greenburgh’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant alongside his wife of 10 years, Pangshua, and their two children, Jas and Sophia.
“I took a chance on Chick-fil-A when I was just a college student, and today I feel fortunate to open the first restaurant in Greenburgh,” Riley said. “After nearly 20 years with Chick-fil-A, it is such an honor to bring the beloved experience, including our signature menu items and warm hospitality, to this incredible community. I am so grateful that my family and I have been welcomed with such open arms, and we truly cannot wait to serve our neighbors here in Westchester County.”
Caring for the Greenburgh Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Feeding Westchester, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.
Riley’s restaurant will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 25 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Scarsdale is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Greenburgh area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
