Local gym Burn Boot Camp’s Cibolo Creek location in Schertz will soon be coming to the city of Cibolo.

At the April 8 Cibolo City Council meeting, council approved a change in zoning for 5.2 acres of property south of the intersection of West Borgfeld Road and Dobie Boulevard, allowing the property to be used as Burn Boot Camp’s new location.

What you need to know

Burn Boot Camp Cibolo Creek currently operates at 233 FM 3009, Schertz. Franchise partners Alex and Tiesha Hartman wrote in an application to city staff that the growth of the gym necessitates a relocation to 0 Dobie Blvd.

The Hartmans currently do business in Cibolo with both Alex Hartman State Farm and wellness studio Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.

“My wife and I have an extreme passion for serving our community—we have a long track record of doing that—and Burn Boot Camp is also so much about community,” Alex Hartman said to the council.

The vision for the 0 Dobie Blvd. space, according to the application, is for a 12,000-to-15,000-square-foot building with at least 8,000 square feet for the gym space. Plans for the gym call for a large open space with storage, child care services, a smoothie bar and a locker room with showers.

Both a March 25 public hearing and the April 8 council meeting brought out many Burn Boot Camp members to speak up for the Hartmans, including lead trainer Tammy Boyd.

“They’ve both impacted my life tremendously both as a professional and personally as a wife and mother, and even as a citizen of Cibolo … I want nothing more than to see a wellness collective come to the city of Cibolo,” Boyd said.

Next steps

Currently, Burn Boot Camp Cibolo Creek continues to operate out of the Schertz location with a normal schedule.

In their public comment to council, the Hartmans stated that they have an engineer and architect chosen for the project.
