Both women’s and men’s teams for the Cincinnati Bearcats put forth dominant performances against Miami (Ohio) on Friday, sweeping the Redhawks at home. The women won 199-101, and the men claimed a 175-125 victory.
Women’s Recap
The Bearcats were led by senior Joleigh Crye, who swam to a pair of individual wins in both the 100 breaststroke (1:02.02, just faster than this time last year at 1:02.18) and 100 butterfly (56.43). Senior Michelle Morgan also nabbed two wins on the meet, claiming the 200 freestyle (1:50.26, almost a half second fater than this tim elast year at 1:50.71) and the 500 free (4:57.69, significantly slower than her 4:53.91 from this time last year).
Cincinnati’s relays proved to be too much for the Redhawks, bookending the meet with wins in both the 400 medley relay (3:44.60) and 200 free relay (1:34.49).
On the boards, the Bearcats were spearheaded by freshman Campbell Lively, taking the 3-meter win in 281.55. Junior Langley Peterson dove to a pair of runner-up finishes on both 1-meter (255.98) and 3-meter (278.18).
The Redhawks didn’t go down with a fight, however. Freshman Gracie Gregory picked up the win in the 1000 free, clocking 10:15.25, and Junior Ella Zeigert also notched the 100 back win in 56.35 (just off of her time from October of last yar at 55.71).
The 200 free relay for Miami (OH) touched just over a quarter-second off of Cincinnati in 1:34.76.
Men’s Recap
Sophomore Conner Hogan swept the sprints for the Bearcat men, earning victories in both the 50 free (20.37) and 100 free (45.65), both of which were quicker than their dual meet performance from a week prior against Northern Kentucky. Junior Kyle Bumgardner also doubled up on the event wins, taking both breaststrokes, stopping the clock in 55.57 in the 100 breast (.2 slower than October of 2024) and 2:00.43 in the 200 breast (.4 faster than October of 2024).
Sophomore Ramea Diaa led the diving effort for Cincinnati, winning on 3 meters with a score of 383.25.
Similar to their women’s team counterparts, Cincy took both relays to open and close the men’s scoring, turning in a time of 3:17.36 in the 400 medley and 1:22.00 in the 200 free relay.
Senior Allen Cotton swam to a win for the RedHawks in the 200 fly, clocking 1:49.10 (slower than his 1:47.81 from October of 2024). He also earned the 200 IM win in 1:51.50 (just off of his 1:50.14 from this time in 2024). Freshman Elijah Rolfsen also earned an event win, taking the 500 free in 4:33.94.
Freshman Duncan Salmen was also victorious for Miami (OH) in the 100 fly, clocking 49.35. Sophomore Noam Kulbak picked up a big win on 1 meter (312.75) to add to the individual wins for the RedHawks.
