SAN ANTONIO — Confusion briefly spread Sunday night after the City of San Antonio posted on social media that a planned Cinco de Mayo event at Historic Market Square had been canceled, only for officials to later clarify that the event was not canceled, but instead replaced.
In an post on X late Sunday night, the city initially stated: “This event has been canceled.” However, that message was later updated, with officials clarifying that the original event had been replaced with Sunday’s Pinata Drop.
“This event was not canceled, but replaced with a Pinata Drop on Sunday, May 3,” the updated post read. The city encouraged the public to follow the @MarketSquareSA page for the latest event information.
The city has not given any details for the event replacement.
