SAN ANTONIO (February 18, 2025) — The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts an Arctic cold front and significantly cold temperatures arriving in San Antonio by tonight and continuing through Saturday morning.

The City of San Antonio’s Department of Human Services (DHS) is working with community partners to operate temporary overnight shelters to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness. The City’s Street Outreach Team began outreach to the unsheltered population on Monday, February 17. The following locations will be open beginning tonight at 7 p.m. for our unsheltered neighbors.

Temporary Overnight Shelter

  • City of San Antonio Bode Community Center, 901 Rigsby Ave
  • City of San Antonio Tobin Community Center, 1900 West Martin St
  • Communities Under the Bridge (CUB) – 724 Chestnut St, 78202
  • Sold Out Believers Church -1139 Gembler, 78219 (everyone)
  • Sold Out Believers Church – 1802 Guadalupe, 78207 (female only)
  • Haven for Hope – 1 Haven for Hope Way, 78207
  • SAMMinistries – by referral
  • Corazon Ministries – 504 Ave E, 78215

The City’s Street Outreach Team and Community Connections Hotline (210-207-1799) are operating 24 hours beginning tonight to connect unsheltered neighbors with resources, including transportation and cold-weather supplies. Animal Care Services will provide kennels to care for pets at shelters.

The City will pause all encampment abatements during the cold weather and all other City operations will remain on a normal schedule.

Daytime Places to Stay Warm

Libraries, Senior Centers, and Community Centers will serve as places to stay warm during their regular hours of operation. For a map of these locations, visit SA.gov/ColdWeather.

VIA passengers may travel fare-free to or from these locations from Wednesday, February 19 through Saturday, February 22. Passengers using VIA bus service or VIA Link (within the Link service zones) should alert the bus operator when boarding; VIAtrans passengers should alert the reservation agent when booking a VIAtrans trip.

For more information, call 3-1-1 (210-207-6000), or use the new 311SA mobile app. 311 will extend their hours until 11 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday, and then resume normal hours (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) on Saturday.
