Editor’s note: The brokerage business is a busy one, with frequent moves, mergers and milestones. Here we highlight some of the latest activity among brokerages across the U.S.
Recruiting wins, expansions at Coldwell Banker
It’s been a busy week for Coldwell Banker Realty and its affiliates. The brand is wrapping up the month of August with a flurry of announcements, including the addition of a billion-dollar agent in Northern California.
Burlingame, California: An agent with four decades of experience has joined Coldwell Banker Realty’s Burlingame office south of San Francisco. Mary Bee, previously with RE/MAX, began her real estate career in 1985 after moving to the Bay Area from Hong Kong. She closed more than $74 million in sales last year and has racked up over $1 billion in lifetime sales.
“Market-leading agents like Mary come to Coldwell Banker to support their growth,” said Dani Chrisman, managing broker for the Burlingame office, in a news release. “We have the size and scale to offer extensive referral opportunities, comprehensive listing support products and a trusted brand name that allows agents to successfully close more deals,” she added.
Miami, Florida: Claudia Cornejo, a NAHREP Top 250 Latino Agent, is bringing her two decades of experience to Coldwell Banker’s Pinecrest office in greater Miami. Cornejo most recently led the Claudia & Associates Real Estate Group in Fairfax, Virginia. Her team continues to operate in the D.C. area and has sold more than 1,000 homes.
“Claudia’s impressive track record, leadership experience, and commitment to excellence make her a tremendous asset to our team and to the clients she serves,” said Mario Goderich, managing broker of the Pinecrest office.
Cornejo is fluent in English and Spanish and is dedicated to bringing her cultural understanding to the Latino and Hispanic community, according to a news release.
New York City: Coldwell Banker Warburg, a longtime luxury firm based in Manhattan, has gained three new agents.
Abigail Godfrey was most recently at Douglas Elliman and starred in Netflix’s “Selling the City,” an opportunity, she said, that “helped my business tremendously.” She joins the Asset Advisory Team, which made the move to CBW earlier this month.
Also new to CBW is The Holmes Team, a duo with more than $100 million in lifetime sales, according to a news release. In addition to real estate sales, Charles Holmes and teammate Evita Lasasso have experience in global equities management, PR, finance, fashion and tech.
“Charles and his team bring an impressive track record and deep client trust,” said Kevelyn Guzman, CBW’s regional vice president, while Godfrey “represents the type of next-generation talent we’re proud to support: she’s driven, sharp, and ready to make her mark.” Together, Guzman added, “they embody the spirit of growth and excellence that defines CBW, and we’re excited to see their impact.”
Gulf Shores, Alabama: Coldwell Banker Coastal Realty on Alabama’s Gulf Coast is opening a new office — its fourth since joining the brand in 2019 — in Spanish Fort, a suburb of Mobile. The firm is home to 60 agents and serves Baldwin County, “a growing market in the Southeast,” according to a news release.
“We are clearly in growth mode,” said David Henry, president of CB Coastal Realty. “We are very excited about this new phase in our company’s development. We are committed to ensuring that all our clients receive the best imaginable service and that our agents are afforded every opportunity to maximize their business potential,” he added.
Compass welcomes Hamptons expert into the fold
Jon Grossman, a real estate professional with a background in construction and development, is joining Compass in New York as he makes the transition to full-time agent. Grossman, who grew up in East Hampton, will focus on properties in East Hampton, Amagansett, Bridgehampton and Sagaponack.
Grossman gained experience in real estate through his family’s Windward Realty firm and later specialized in construction and development as the owner of Jon Grossman Builders. He closed a $3.5 million transaction on his first day with Compass, according to a press release, and “sees his role as an asset to the broader Compass team rather than a competitor.”
“Joining Compass felt like a natural next step,” Grossman said. “I know many brokers in town and have always respected and appreciated the collaborative energy Compass brings. I love the culture, and I’ve already felt a great connection with the team.”
Compass Regional Vice President Gordon Golub praised Grossman’s “open mindset and construction background,” adding that those qualities “make him an extraordinary resource for buyers, sellers, and agents alike.”
Pennsylvania indie enters a new state
Iron Valley Real Estate (IVRE) has expanded into its eighth state with the opening of its first office in California. After less than a decade in business, the Pennsylvania-based independent brokerage now has more than 50 offices and over 2,250 agents.
The new office in Elk Grove also marks IVRE’s first West Coast location. It will be led by IVRE franchise owner Eric Edwards and Garrett Scott, a local market expert.
In addition to representing IVRE’s growth efforts, the new Elk Grove location is “about creating a place where people can come together, collaborate, and still achieve their own goals and aspirations on their own terms,” Edwards said in a news release.
The new office was “built to reflect the modern, independent, and fearless approach that’s made our brand thrive in our East Coast markets,” IVRE CEO Rob Cleapor added.
