Vermont Business Magazine Representatives from Comcast and Technology for Tomorrow were joined today by Vermont State Senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale to announce a $65,000 grant to support the organization’s Digital Navigation Program.

Technology for Tomorrow works to bridge the digital divide among older adults and new Americans by providing them with computer and workforce development training. The Digital Navigation Program, named T4T Together, seeks to maintain an active network of Digital Navigators throughout Vermont. Digital Navigators are trusted guides who provide individualized support to community members so they can access connectivity, devices, and digital skills.

“I applaud Comcast for providing Technology for Tomorrow with this generous donation, which addresses the critical need for our seniors and immigrants to acquire at least a basic level of computer skills in today’s digital age,” said Senator Ram Hinsdale. “T4T Together is a lifeline for these populations who need help connecting to affordable Internet at home so they can access job opportunities, continued education, and health services.”

Over the last two years, Comcast has provided more than $100,000 in grant support to Technology for Tomorrow. This $65,000 grant from Comcast will support the expansion of T4T Together to reach more residents statewide. The funds will be used to train 75 Vermonters as Digital Navigators through beginner and intermediate computer and technology courses, equipping them to provide workshops and one-on-one support for older adults and new Americans in their community.

“Comcast has been a true partner in providing essential funding to Technology for Tomorrow, and we’re grateful for their continued support,” said Vijay Desai, Executive Director of Technology for Tomorrow. “Thanks to this grant for the T4T Together program, we can connect more people throughout Vermont to an affordable Internet at home, thereby empowering them to access resources and learn skills that will open doors for professional growth.”

“Comcast is proud to support Technology for Tomorrow in its mission to help residents across Vermont overcome barriers to Internet adoption,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England Region. “We understand how important it is for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to connect to the Internet and leverage online platforms that enhance their quality of life.”

This grant from Comcast is part of Project UP, Comcast’s commitment to advance digital opportunities through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet, advance economic mobility, and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers, and creators.

Comcast is deeply committed to advancing digital opportunities in the communities it serves. Over the past three years, the company has provided more than $3 million in cash and in-kind contributions to 50 nonprofits in Vermont, including Technology for Tomorrow. This investment includes digital opportunity programs such as Internet Essentials, Lift Zones, and Digital Navigators. Since its inception in 2011, Comcast’s Internet Essentials has connected more than 52,000 low-income Vermont residents to broadband service at home. Additionally, Comcast has launched four Lift Zones in Vermont to provide free, high-speed WiFi and digital skills training at local community centers to promote digital learning.

Throughout Vermont, Comcast provides Internet, mobile, and entertainment from Xfinity to residents, and connectivity, networking, cybersecurity, mobile, and managed solutions from Comcast Business to area businesses.
