Costco Shoppers Need to Know About These Special Stores

Listen up, wholesale shoppers! Did you know there are special Costco locations across the United States? Before you guess what makes them different from other Costcos, know this: It’s not because the food court is better. These locations are unique for a different reason: they’re Costco Business Centers.

What is a Costco Business Center?

If you, like many, have no clue what a Costco Business Center is, let us fill you in. These special Costcos are geared toward businesses more than individual shoppers, though single-cardholders can still shop at them. Costco Business Centers offer earlier operating hours and larger, commercial-grade products, specifically in the food, office and catering spaces.

How is Costco Business Center different from Costco Wholesale?

There’s quite a big difference between a standard Costco Wholesale and a Costco Business Center — a 70% difference, in fact. According to Rob Parker, Senior Vice President of Costco Business Center, nearly three-quarters of all products at Business Centers are distinct from standard Costco locations. In fact, Costco says a Business Center is a “a different kind of Costco.”

Costco Wholesale focuses on being a one-stop shop for individual customers, which is why they offer a food court, pharmacy, tire center and gas station at most locations. Meanwhile, Costco Business Centers target the needs of businesses, offering single-serve snacks, catering supplies and a larger selection of drinks and candy, including sizes greater than those in Wholesale.

As mentioned before, Costco Business Centers also offer earlier hours than Wholesale, with times listed below.

• Costco Business Center: Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Costco Wholesale: Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
