The Council for Quality Growth will host its 15th Annual Community Improvement District (CID) Recognition Event on Nov. 12.

Taking place from 5:3 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jewel Box in Assembly Studios Atlanta, the celebratory event will bring together over 200 business and CID leaders, local officials and industry professionals from the metro Atlanta area.

The event will highlight the various contributions of Atlanta’s CIDs, showcasing their efforts in supporting the region’s economy and bolstering local business communities.

Additionally, similar to past years, the Council for Quality Growth will also present a pair of distinguished awards: the John Williams CID Leadership Award (given to a CID volunteer) and the CID Professional Excellence Award (which honors one CID industry professional).

Receiving the John Williams CID Leadership Award is Dan Buyers, a partner at McWhirter Realty.

Buyers has served on the board of Town Center CID since 2012 as both the county appointee and the vice chair.

The Council said that Buyers was honored because his impact “can be seen throughout the metro region through commercial and residential developments, as well as his civic and philanthropic endeavors.”

This year’s recipient of the CID Professional Excellence Award is Joe Allen, executive director of Gwinnett Place CID.

According to a release, Allen played a pivotal role in the creation of the Gwinnett Place CID back in 2006, and has served in the executive director role since the CID’s inception.

The Council for Quality Growth said that Allen was deserving of the award because he is a “proactive CID leader, committed to the Gwinnett community and advancing a shared vision for an internationally diverse, livable urban center.”

Tickets for the event are $85 for Council of Quality Growth members and $100 for non-members. They can be purchased on the Council website.
