CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Oklahoma State women’s golf team concluded stroke play at the NCAA Championship on Monday, finishing in sixth place to punch its ticket to match play for the first time in six seasons.
The top eight teams will now advance to the first of three rounds of match play in Carlsbad. At 3-over for the week, Oklahoma State was eight shots clear of the cut line. This marks the first time since 2021 that the Cowgirls advanced to match play.
The Cowgirls combined for a 13-over 301 on Monday, battling through windy conditions to earn their spot in the quarterfinals.
Juniors Ellie Bushnell and Marta Silchenko became the first pair of Cowgirls to earn top-10 individual finishes at the NCAA Championship since 2004, tying for seventh and eighth, respectively.
Bushnell carded a closing 73 (+1) to bring her weekly total to 6-under, the fourth-lowest score ever by a Cowgirl at the national championship. Silchenko followed right behind, going 5-under to claim the fifth-lowest mark.
The T-8 performance marked Silchenko’s seventh consecutive top-10 finish. The 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup invitee will have to wait until the 2026-27 season opener to have a chance at tying Caroline Hedwall’s program record of eight consecutive top-10 placements.
After posting 16 birdies through the tournament’s first four rounds, Bushnell is up to 130 on the season. Nine more would tie program-record holder Maja Stark’s 2020-21 mark of 139.
True freshman Yu-Chu Chen rounded out her NCAA Championship debut with a 76. Chen tied for 42nd at 6-over on the week, the best finish by a Cowgirl freshman at the championship since Rina Tatematsu tied for 12th in 2021.
Summer Lee and Tarapath Panya turned in scores of 11-over and 19-over on the week, respectively.
Oklahoma State will face off against 3-seed Arkansas in the match play quarterfinals beginning Tuesday morning at 8:50 CDT. If victorious, the Cowgirls will advance to face the winner of the USC (2) and Duke (7) matchup with a trip to the finals on the line.
