Maze’s report suggests more stores could close. “At least 55 franchises are listed for sale on various broker websites,” he wrote.
Sales at Crumbl have declined over the past two years, according to Maze’s report. He found numbers that suggest August was “particularly bad.”
He said traffic at the chain’s more than 1,000 locations was down 32% year over year. He attributed the data to the traffic-tracking firm Placer.ai.
Sales in August were 70% lower than they were two years earlier, according to documents provided to Restaurant Business.
“Several franchisees said it was the worst month in company history,” he wrote.
Crumbl’s average annual sales per location dropped to $1.14 million in 2025, down from a peak of $1.84 million in 2022, according to data published by Restaurant Business.
The figures showed sales increased from $1.27 million in 2020 to $1.69 million in 2021 before reaching their peak in 2022. Average sales then fell to $1.16 million in 2023, rebounded to $1.36 million in 2024 and declined again in 2025.
