MENDOCINO CO., 1/9/25 – California State University, East Bay, is enrolling students in its online cannabis education program.
The noncredit program is offered entirely online and is open to adults 18 and older.
The program offers students a chance to earn certification as specialists in cannabis cultivation, product development, retail sales, compliance, medical cannabis and related fields.
Courses are self-paced, designed to be completed remotely, and range in cost from $850 to $2,200.
According to the university, the program is intended to provide a foundational education in cannabis operations and regulations in California.
Participants who complete a track receive a certificate issued through CSU East Bay’s continuing education department. The program does not offer academic credit or degrees.
The university cautions that the program does not replace state or local licensing requirements for cannabis workers or businesses.
Cannabis education programs have expanded statewide since the legalization of cannabis in California, even as the industry struggles with high taxes, burdensome regulations and a reclassification at President Trump’s recent request.
