The City of Dallas announced the launch of its first-ever Nighttime Economy & Responsible Hospitality Division earlier this month, following more than a year of behind-the-scenes planning.

The division’s launch positions the city as a national leader in managing after-dark commerce and culture. The move recognizes nightlife’s massive economic impact — generating $24 billion annually between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. while supporting 256,000 jobs.

The NTE Division serves as Dallas’ central hub for nightlife coordination. It connects businesses, venues, residents, and public safety officials to balance community needs with economic growth and safety.

On October 14, the NTE division will host Glow Up Summit: Major Event Readiness at the Dec on Dragon St. venue to prepare the city’s nightlife and hospitality communities for the “opportunities ahead,” including the FIFA World Cup 2026 and other international events.

“The nighttime economy is one of Dallas’ most powerful drivers of culture, connection, and commerce,” said Edward Grant, Nighttime Economy & Responsible Hospitality Manager. “The Glow Up Summit marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter — bringing our businesses, venues, and communities together to safeguard this sector, prepare for major global events, and ensure Dallas sets the standard for a world-class nightlife economy.”

Dallas joins cities like New York and London in formally recognizing nightlife’s economic importance.

Summit programming and registration details will be released in the coming weeks.
