INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA held its annual SAAC summer meeting from July 7th– July 9th. Devyn Demchak of Drexel softball attended the conference in place of Youssef Bahgat, a member of the Drexel swim team, who was the 2025-26 CAA SAAC representative for the NCAA SAAC.
Demchak participated in discussions on proposed NCAA legislation, governance changes, and emerging issues affecting Division I athletes. The meeting addressed student-athletes’ well-being, transfer and roster policies, playing and practice requirements and protection for college sports.
“It was truly an amazing opportunity!” Demchak said, “The student-athlete voice has come so far, and I am eager to see how it continues to evolve and improve the overall student-athlete experience!”
Representatives also explored ways to strengthen student-athlete engagement, representation, and communication within NCAA decision-making. Delegates were able to hear presentations from Lydia Bell, the Managing Director of Research at NCAA; Brian Higgin, Chief of Staff at NCAA; Janell Zimmer, Director of Business Performance Management and Quality Control; and Dawn Buth, Managing Director, Government Relations.
