Next Saturday’s game will be the last between both programs until 2027, as LSU and South Carolina were not paired together by the SEC as annual opponents in the updated nine-game conference schedule format that starts next year.

Next week’s game also starts a three-game stretch for LSU before it goes into its second bye week of the season in Week 10. The stretch includes two big tests for Kelly’s squad, as they are set to have back-to-back ranked games against No. 17 Vanderbilt and No. 5 Texas A&M on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 25, respectively.
