Donny Osmond was a musical boy wonder, turned teen idol, turned showbiz veteran. He’s even a “Dancing with the Stars” champion.
He’s been on one stage or another for almost his entire life. And now, he’s decided to extend the time on his current stage in Las Vegas for just a little while longer.
After performing his solo show at Harrah’s for five years, Osmond has extended his residency through June of next year. The entertainer said the show continues to evolve, a process he enjoys.
Osmond’s history with Las Vegas residencies dates back to 2008, when he and his sister, Marie Osmond, agreed to perform eight shows at The Flamingo. The engagement ultimately lasted 11 years and included more than 1,700 performances.
In 2021, Osmond returned to Las Vegas for a solo residency at Harrah’s.
“I’m not sharing the stage with anybody,” he said. “I miss working with Marie, to be honest with you. I miss working with my brothers. But this one is probably my favorite show I’ve ever done.”
He described the production as a reflection of both his career and personal life.
“It is my entire life, and not just my career, but my entire life in 90 minutes,” Osmond said.
During an interview, he was praised for his enthusiasm for performing.
“I don’t know that I’ve ever met anybody in show business who loves performing as much as you do,” said On The Red Carpet’s George Pennacchio.
Osmond responded, “When I get onto that stage and do this 90-minute show, it is non-stop. I work my tail off, George, you know that. But it’s so much fun every time you get on. I’ve got a great job.”
The entertainer’s career began in 1963 when he appeared with his brothers on “The Andy Williams Show.” His Las Vegas show features songs from throughout his career, including some of his best-known hits.
One portion of the show changes nightly based on audience participation.
“There’s a segment in the show I call the request segment, where I put all 65 of my albums on the big screen back there and the titles scroll and the audience takes control for about 15 or 20 minutes,” he said, “They tell us what to do. So the show changes every night.”
More recently, Osmond appeared on the viral “Kitchen Singing Series” on social media with Anthony and Jonathan, performing a song from the animated Disney film “Mulan.”
“It’s a real house with a real kitchen,” he said. “And we sat down and we sang, ‘Let’s get down to business.’ And these guys are really talented. And the next thing I know, we’re past 11 million views.”
With his residency now extended through June of next year, Osmond said he remains committed to a show that celebrates his life, music and decades-long career in entertainment.
