Marty’s Martini Bar Reopens In New HomeSuburban Italian Restaurant Piacere Mio Opens Location In Uptown

ANDERSONVILLE — A new Mexican restaurant is coming to Andersonville from the owner of a beloved Edgewater taco shop.

Edgewater Tacos owner Patricia Guerrero is opening De Colores Mexican Grill on Andersonville’s bustling Clark Street corridor at 5403 N. Clark St., she said. Guerrero is trying to have it open by Cinco de Mayo.

Whereas Edgewater Tacos is primarily a pick-up restaurant with sidewalk seating in the summer, Guerrero’s new restaurant will have plenty of seating and a rear patio, she said in a social media post announcing the restaurant.

De Colores will also serve alcohol, Guerrero said.

The Andersonville storefront is vacant, as the previous restaurant Cescas Margarita Bar & Grill closed late last year after 10 years in business, according to a Facebook post.

Edgewater Tacos has been a popular destination for tacos, tortas and burritos since Guerrero and her brother opened it in 2018.

The business continues her family’s legacy in the neighborhood, going back to the ’80s when her father opened Durango Mexican Restaurant at 1130 W. Thorndale Ave., according to a history on the business. It was in business for 10 years, according to its website.

Guerrero and her brother were born and raised in Edgewater and decided to open Edgewater Tacos as a way to honor their father, who died in 2021.

Marty’s Martini Bar Reopens In New Home

More than a year after it closed, Marty’s Martini Bar reopened in Andersonville at a new location and under different ownership.

The bar closed its doors at 1511 W. Balmoral Ave. in September 2024 and reopened in November at its new home, 1477 W. Winnemac Ave., according to the business.

In 2024, the popular neighborhood watering hole was bought by 2Bears Tavern Group, which runs popular North Side LGBTQ+-friendly bars like 2Bears Tavern in Uptown, SoFo Tap and Meeting House Tavern in Andersonville and Jackhammer in Rogers Park.

Its new spot is the former home of Boca Loca Cantina, which closed in 2023 after two years in business. It’s also the same building as 2Bears’ Meeting House Tavern.

Marty’s Martini Bar opened in 2004 under founder Marty Rogo, and the upscale cocktail bar has cultivated a loyal following.

The bar still offers a wide variety of drinks — especially martinis. There are the house favorites — which includes things like the classic dry martini, a cosmopolitan or a French martini — as well as dessert martinis and chocolate martinis. A 10-ounce martini is $15, while a 6-ounce martini is $10.

The bar also offers non-alcoholic martinis and cocktails, wine and beer, as well as THC/CBD drinks.

Marty’s Martini Bar is open 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Monday-Thursday, 3 p.m.-2 a.m. Fridays, 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m.-2 a.m. Sundays.

Suburban Italian Restaurant Piacere Mio Opens Location In Uptown

Piacere Mio, an Italian restaurant, opened in December at 1303 W. Wilson Ave. — an Uptown storefront that’s seen many businesses over the past couple of years.

This is the second location of the restaurant operated by chef Jose Marquez, according to its website. His original location of Piacere Mio is in suburban Forest Park, and it opened in 2023, according to the Forest Park Review.

The restaurant serves a variety of classic dishes, such as pollo alla Milanese ($24), pappardelle alla bolognese ($26) and pork chop Emiliana ($34), according to its menu.

Piacere Mio is open 4-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 4-10 p.m. Fridays, 3-10 p.m. Saturdays and 2-9 p.m. Sundays. Reservations can be made online.
