ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Mexican grill on Euclid Avenue in Atlanta’s Little Five Points got grilled by the health department on its last routine inspection.
El Bandido failed with 58 points and a “U” for unsatisfactory. The report says there was leftover food debris on dining room tables, rice and salsa were at unsafe temperatures and there were several live and dead roaches in the facility.
Atlanta News First dropped by the restaurant to question management, but the business was closed even though the sign out front said open. A customer told us that the business has been closed for days. Tall weeds have taken over the back patio.
“I’m not extremely picky but the food has never been great, and it is a skeleton crew and it’s a big building and my uncle and I were talking about how it’s a big building and must be a pretty hefty rent,” customer Alex Boulet said.
Now to an update in midtown Atlanta. One week ago, the manager of Sugar Factory on Peachtree Street said “everything has been solved” after failing an inspection with 54 points.
It turns out everything has not been solved. The restaurant dropped to a 49 on a reinspection this week and was cited for storing raw chicken next to steaks, burgers, and tomatoes.
Woody’s Cheesesteaks on Irby Avenue in Atlanta’s Buckhead community earned a 100 on their last health inspection. Congratulations, they are the winner of this week’s Golden Spatula Award. They’ve been in this location for five years, but really Woody’s is an Institution in metro Atlanta. They’ve been around 49 years so they know how to serve good quality cheesesteaks.
Let’s talk about what you can order on the menu. They have the chicken Philly, the traditional Philly with the cheese wiz and that’s how you know it’s from Philadelphia, Italian sausage, and they serve wedges here. They don’t serve them at any other store. Plus, they have the loaded wedges which is basically a Philly cheesesteak on top of the wedges. Boy that’s good!
