Las Vegas (KSNV) — In a recent incident, an elderly driver inadvertently pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake, resulting in a crash into a local business.

The North Las Vegas Police Department released a video showing the aftermath of the crash, which occurred at La Chilanga Mexican Food, located near Ann Road and Simmons Street.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, with officials noting that the event serves as a significant reminder of the challenges associated with aging and driving.

Seniors and their families must recognize when it might be necessary to limit or cease driving.

To help address these concerns, experts suggest several important reminders for senior drivers and their families:

  • Be candid about any changes in driving ability.
  • Consider scheduling regular vision and driving assessments.
  • Engage in open discussions with loved ones regarding safety on the road.
  • Explore alternative transportation options when necessary.
