The Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business empowers students to evolve into innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders thriving in the dynamic global marketplace of ideas. This young alumni series highlights recent business graduates who are putting their Clemson education to work in bold, meaningful ways. From their first day on campus to their first big career move, these Tigers are showing the world how Clemson Powers Business.

Clemson Family

When it came time for Josh Rohaley ’23 to choose where he wanted to go to college, Clemson was immediately top of mind. He spent his childhood in Rockhill, South Carolina, only a couple of hours outside of Clemson city limits. That, and with his two older sisters already Clemson students, each visit made it feel more like home.

Even though he was certain about his choice of school, his choice of major was a little more challenging for him. Eventually, he landed on a business degree.

“I didn’t have a specific career in mind like being a doctor or engineer,” he said. “I wanted something versatile that would allow me to build on my skills. Management, especially with a focus on data analytics, gave me that opportunity.”

Within his management courses, Rohaley learned a lot, but his favorite class was one with David Peyton, clinical assistant professor. “Dr. Peyton is, by far, the best professor I’ve had. The coursework was interesting, but more than that, he treated us like family. I never doubted that he cared about our success.”

During his time as an undergraduate at Clemson, Rohaley took a chance and joined the Clemson Consulting Consortium. As part of one of the program’s first cohorts, he worked on a semester-long business case project with other students and was mentored by senior consultants from PwC.

While a student, Rohaley also participated in intramural sports leagues.

“It was something I never imagined doing as a college student,” Rohaley said. “We worked in small teams on real-world business cases. I was able to learn firsthand what it means to approach a problem like a consultant.”

Rohaley was also able to study abroad in Florence, Italy as a student, an experience he will never forget. While there, he was able to explore countries like Spain, Germany, Austria and Ireland and grew a lot as a person while there.

Life after graduation

Today, Rohaley is a project engineer with Ingenics Consulting. Through his job, he assists manufacturers like BMW and Volvo in optimizing their logistics and supply chain operations. His projects have taken him across the country, including a monthlong assignment in Las Vegas.

“Clemson taught me to step outside my comfort zone. That mentality helped me land my first job, and it still pushes me to say yes to new challenges.”
