Pragetheiswar Giri, a PhD student in Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology, recently received the Purdue University Teaching Academy’s Graduate Teaching Award “in recognition of outstanding contributions to teaching and learning.”
This comes on the heels of Giri’s election to the position of team chair in Purdue’s Graduate Student Government for the upcoming academic year. Giri, who has been part of Purdue Polytechnic’s doctoral program in technology since 2021, is the first student from engineering technology to hold this position.
Giri noted that while these are clear personal milestones, he also wishes for them to “highlight Purdue Polytechnic’s active participation in the broader university community.”
For his own work, Giri states that he is “working on cancer drug delivery enhancement, [and] passionate about machine learning and robotics.”
The Graduate Teaching Award honors those graduate students with teaching responsibilities across Purdue who have shown their dedication to teaching other students in an outstanding way. Recipients are selected by academic departments for their commitment to undergraduate education. The award is sponsored by the Teaching Academy and the Office of the Provost.
