Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Beeman.

Hi Mariah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my banana bread business in 2020. I was trying to stay as busy as possible during that time. I was training for a body building competition and doing online classes with my two kids. During the lockdown I really learned to monetize from all my hobbies, but baking bread has really stuck with me. Sharing my food is one of my love languages.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not every journey is smooth sailing. I have been fortunate enough to work with other small businesses and sell my products in their store fronts. Sometimes I do reach out, and people don’t want to work with me. That’s one of the hardest parts- It can be hard to make sales when people haven’t tried my stuff or heard of my small business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I make banana bread that’s a little different from your average. I add zucchini and use almonds instead of walnuts. I’ve always loved banana bread, but I can never buy it from stores. I’m allergic to walnuts and pecans and most store bought breads include those. The zucchini helps keep it moist, and the almonds give it that good crunch.
I also add collagen peptides to batches. I call it Beauty Bread. Collagen is a supplement that aids in bone and joint health, supports skin elasticity, and aids in connective tissue integrity and elasticity. This is also very important to me because I struggle with rheumatoid arthritis. Collagen peptides are one of my favorite supplements and I am happy I can add them to any recipe.

How do you think about happiness?
I went to school to do so many different things. I trained to be an EMT, medical assistant, personal trainer, and nutrition coach. I have found that I am happier in the kitchen baking bread!
When I’m not baking, I enjoy weight lifting. My kids are getting to the age where they want to train with me, and it’s so exciting! I am helping them learn how to lift correctly and perform better in their sports. Being able to help them stay healthy inside and outside the kitchen makes me happy.
