A Latin icon is touching down in the Big Apple.
Faena, the Miami-based, Argentine-born luxury hotel group known for its bold blend of opulence, artistry, and tropical exuberance is adding another destination to its burgeoning roster. Faena New York will open its doors next spring, gracing the city with its immersive approach to hospitality and culture.
Faena New York will find its home at 500 West 18th Street – overlooking the High Line – in a building designed by Bjarke Ingels Group. The property will offer 120 guest rooms and suites, the lavish Tierra Santa Healing House, dynamic food and beverage venues and vibrant nightlife programming.
“New York City has historically been the center of innovation, creativity, and pushing boundaries,” says Alan Faena, who co-founded Faena with Len Blavatnik in 2000. “Faena will embrace and amplify that spirit, offering a touch of magic that honors and contributes to the vibrant legacy of New York.”
The opening of Faena New York will mark two decades since Faena’s debut in Buenos Aires and a decade since the launch of Faena Miami Beach. Each Faena property reflects the brand’s commitment to pursuing art and cultural immersion in a destination, as well as elevating communities and creating properties that inspire both travelers and locals alike.
François-Olivier Luiggi will assume the role of general manager at Faena New York. He brings over 25 years of experience inhabiting leadership positions at such properties as The Mark and The Carlyle, and he most spent eight years as general manager at The Pierre, a Taj Hotel, New York. His extensive career also includes a pivotal role in launching 19 Four Seasons hotels and resorts globally.
With hallmarks ranging from Damien Hirst’s 24-karat gold woolly mammoth installation, “Gone But Not Forgotten” in Miami to sculptural works by Argentine artist León Ferrari in Buenos Aires, Faena brings an artistic approach to its destinations with spaces designed to evoke emotion and stimulate the senses.
Each Faena property channels a mix of Art Deco elements, coupled with fantasy and whimsy baked into its aesthetic. In Miami, the Faena District includes boutique hotel Casa Faena, a series of residential condominiums, the Faena Forum event space as well as the retail destination Faena Bazaar. Faena has put innovation at the heart of all its endeavors, emerging as the global model for high-quality, purpose-built lifestyle living.
