Y’all. The Falcons defense is GOOD.
I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun watching the Falcons in primetime. Seeing what they did to the Vikings a few weeks ago was fun, but what we’ve seen from the Vikings since has dampened my enthusiasm about that one. But the Bills are widely considered one of the NFL’s best teams, with one of the league’s best quarterbacks, and they were 4-1 until they came down to Atlanta on Monday night. They sacked Josh Allen four times, picked him off twice,
That was a quality win over a very good team, and the defense genuinely impressed me. The Falcons had 31 total sacks last season, and through five games (and six weeks of the NFL season) they’ve got 14. Right now, they’re on track for 47 sacks this season, which is a tremendous upgrade.
And that’s not even factoring in the offense. Bijan Robinson is such a well-rounded player. How many RBs in this league can rack up 238 yards from scrimmage AND block Ed Oliver right on his ass? Not many! Drake London is playing like a man possessed. Kyle Pitts looks like he’s finally being used in a way that makes sense. This isn’t a perfect team, but they feel more confident and more cohesive than I can remember recently. And we want to know how that’s impacting your confidence in the direction of the team.
