Hoboken, N.J. – Senior David Finch of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was named a Fourth Team All-American by the ABCA on Thursday evening.
Finch becomes the third player in program history to earn All-America honors and collects the fifth All-America selection for Stevens baseball. He joins Erik Sibbach, who was recognized by D3baseball.com and the ABCA in 2024, and Jayson Yano, who earned D3baseball.com honors in both 2015 and 2016.
The MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year last season for his relief efforts, Finch moved into the starting rotation this spring and posted another dominant campaign. The Brentwood, Tenn. native finished the year 7-1, including a 5-1 mark across seven conference starts. He tossed both of his complete games against MAC Freedom opponents and struck out 76 batters, a total that ranks inside the program’s single-season Top 10. Finch also held opposing hitters to a sub-.200 batting average. Every other qualifying pitcher in the conference allowed at least a .230 batting average against.
Finch delivered several of his best outings against conference opponents. He struck out 10 in a complete-game shutout of King’s on April 18 and helped Stevens force a deciding third game against DeSales in the MAC Freedom Semifinals, throwing 7 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. In a road victory over Arcadia, Finch limited the Knights to three hits over six frames while punching out nine. Over his final seven starts, Finch went 6-1 while allowing just nine earned runs across 43 1/3 innings, striking out 45 during that stretch.
