Finnish forward Jani Nyman debuts with promise in the new NHL season, fueled by family support and aiming for consistency in his performance.
SEATTLE — After being called up and scoring in his NHL debut last season, Finnish forward Jani Nyman has officially kicked off a new chapter in his hockey journey.
In Game One of the season, Nyman hit the ice for his first minutes, a moment he’s been working tirelessly toward.
“It’s unreal. It’s a lot of work… This is my goal. I’m so happy right now,” said Nyman.
Behind the scenes, it’s been a family effort. The 20-year-old credits his parents and loved ones for helping him reach this point in his career.
“They are so happy,” said Nyman.
“My mom and dad and my whole family doing everything, cooking, driving,” he said. “I am so thankful for my family.”
Known for his toughness and lethal shot, Nyman has quickly become a promising asset on the ice. He is constantly learning from his teammates like Jared McCann.
Still early in his NHL journey with just 15 games under his belt, Nyman is focused on the basics: consistency, hard work, and contributing when it counts.
“To play very well… doing a couple of goals,” he said, outlining his goals for the season.
With his drive, skills, and support system, Jani Nyman is just getting started.
