SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Film Commission announced the Utah Board of Tourism Development approval of five new productions for state film incentives, generating an estimated economic impact of $69.5 million, creating over 1000 new jobs, and filming in 6 counties across the state.

The approved projects include a mix of feature films and episodic series, including Season 2 of the popular CBS television series, “Marshals,” from the producers behind “Yellowstone.” All productions are scheduled to begin shooting this Spring or Summer, with filming locations still being finalized.

“Utah has provided an incredible backdrop for ‘Marshals’ and we’re happy to be back in the state for season two,” said Drew Brown, EVP of Production for Paramount Television Studios. “The support of the Utah Film Commission, through the incentive program, access to their vast local knowledge, and experienced crews, paired with the stunning and diverse landscapes the state has to offer, made it an easy choice to return to Utah for production.”

“The Utah Motion Picture Incentive Program is a vital factor in maintaining a film industry in the state,“ said Virginia Pearce, Director of the Utah Film Commission. “Not only do these productions utilize Utah’s iconic filming locations, but they directly invest in local communities and create significant economic benefits for residents and local businesses.”

The office also serves as a liaison to the film industry, facilitating production needs across the state.Thousands of productions have been filmed in Utah over the last century, including John Ford’s “The Searchers,” “Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid,” “Thelma & Louise,” “Forrest Gump,” and most recently Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts.” Many episodic series have also been filmed in Utah, such as “Westworld,” “Yellowstone”, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” and the CBS Original television series, “Marshals.”
