The Philadelphia Flyers made 5 draft picks during the 2020 NHL Draft under GM Chuck Fletcher and AGM Brent Flahr.
3 of the Flyers’ draft picks that year have played in an NHL game. 2 of those three have become steady NHLers. 1 player from the group has been a professional since the draft but has not made it out of the AHL, aside from a short ECHL stint.
Lastly, one has had quite the journey, ending with two college stints AFTER an AHL stint, and is now headed to Europe.
Tyson Foerster was the Flyers’ 23rd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Emil Andrae went 54th in Round 2. Zayde Wisdom went 94th in the 4th Round. Elliot Desnoyers went 135th in Round 5, and the draft was wrapped up in Round 6 with Connor McClennon as the 194th overall pick that season.
Of all of the 2020 Draft Class, only two remain with the Flyers organization. So, let’s take a look at the Flyers’ 2020 NHL Draft Class and where they are now.
Tyson Foerster, LW, Round 1 Pick 23
Not much time needs to be spent on Tyson Foerster. He was the Flyers’ first pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Drafted out of Barrie in the OHL, Foerster made an impact right away in the organization. That was in the AHL, but Foerster did make his NHL Debut during the 2022-23 season. He only played 8 games.
In the 2023-24 season, Foerster played his first full NHL schedule and tallied 20 goals in his rookie campaign, beating that number by 5 in 2024-25.
The Flyers’ winger was on pace to smash that before injury shortened his 2025-26 season. He is someone to watch for a big-time breakout in 2026-27.
Foerster may be one of, if not Chuck Fletcher’s, best draft selections.
Emil Andrae, LD, Round 2 Pick 54
Emil Andrae is the other steady NHLer from this draft class.
The Flyers drafted a young, puck-moving defenseman from Sweden when they selected Andrae from HV71. He spent time in the HockeyAllsvenskan, J20 Nationell, and SHL all before coming to the Flyers organization at the end of the 2022-23 season.
In 2023-24, he played 4 NHL games before really cracking into the league in 2024-25, spending half the season with the Flyers. In 2025-26, he somehow did not make the roster out of training camp. He spent time going back and forth to the AHL before he was no longer waiver-exempt. Once Andrae could not be sent to the AHL without waivers, he remained with the team.
Andrae was a solid third-pair defender for the Flyers, but never really got the power-play time to try and reach his full potential, given his offensive talent.
Now, he will have a new opportunity in Toronto, as the main part of the Maple Leafs’ return in the Joseph Woll trade.
Zayde Wisdom, RW, Round 4 Pick 94
Zayde Wisdom has never made the NHL.
He was drafted in 2020, then joined the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for the 2020-21 season before returning to the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) in 2021, when they resumed play post-COVID.
In his first stint, Wisdom looked like a bright future prospect. However, when he came back to the organization in 2022-23, things never looked the same.
Wisdom has just 3 points in 49 games in 2023-24, making it look like his career is over. He got a second chance in Lehigh Valley in 2024-25, bouncing back and scoring 32 points in 68 games. Wisdom donned an “A” on his sweater for the 2025-26 season and is set to return to the Phantoms for the 2026-27 year.
Elliot Desnoyers, Round 5 Pick 135
Elliot Desnoyers is the older brother of top Utah Mammoth prospect Caleb Desnoyers.
Desnoyers played 4 games with the Flyers during his first season in the organization, 2022-23. Since then, he has been an AHLer, never making another NHL appearance. After 3 years with the Phantoms, Desnoyers ended up with the Iowa Wild for the 2025-26 season.
However, he spent most of the year with the Iowa Heartlanders, the ECHL affiliate.
Now, Desnoyers is set to return to the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch.
Connor McClennon, RW, Round 6 Pick 178
Connor McLennon is an interesting one. The Flyers never signed their 2020 final pick to a deal, which let him become a free agent. His AHL numbers were solid, especially in the final two years, scoring 81 and 92 points, respectively.
However, that was not enough for the Flyers to sign him to a deal.
McClennon signed with the Chicago Wolves, but only played 7 games. He played 2 games for the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL before attending and playing hockey for the University of Alberta.
He played there for 2 years before joining Bemidji State (NCAA) in 2025-26, scoring 11 goals and 18 points in 36 games.
Now, McClennon is off to Ligue Magnus in France, playing for Rouen.
