INDIANAPOLIS — Micah Potter is back in the NBA. The center, who last played in the league with the Utah Jazz in April, signed with the Indiana Pacers on Friday.

Potter played a big role over two seasons with Wisconsin from 2019 to 2021. In 51 games he shot .513 from the field and .413 from three-point range, averaging 11.6 points per game with 6.1 rebounds.

In 2021, Potter was named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Watch List. The award is given each year to college basketball’s best center.

Potter went undrafted in 2021 but signed a deal with the Miami Heat. He was later cut and spent his first year as a pro in the G-League. He spent his second year in the pros on a two-way deal with the Utah Jazz, and made his NBA debut in January 2022 but struggled to break through.

Last season, while on another two-way deal with the Jazz, Potter appeared in 38 games and made 10 starts. He averaged 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting .422 from the field.

That effort wasn’t enough to earn him a longer stay in Utah, and in August of this year he signed a training camp deal with the San Antonio Spurs. He was then waived before the start of the season and returned to the G-League.

Potter joins a Pacers squad that is languishing without Tyrese Haliburton, who tore his ACL in the playoffs last season and will miss the entire 2025-26 campaign. The Pacers sit second-to-last in the Eastern Conference with a record of 6-24.
