Former UFC star Dustin Poirier was arrested Sunday for public drunkenness.
Poirier, 37, was booked at 10:14 p.m. local time by Clayton County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, according to online court records.
“Love you all,” Poirier wrote on Instagram after news surfaced. “I’m working on myself.”
MMA Junkie has reached out to police for further details but have yet to hear back. News of Poirier’s arrest was first reported by TMZ.
Former UFC star Ben Askren shed some more light on the incident, however, indicating Poirier was arrested for drinking too much at an airport. Askren shared video of Poirier lightly play-wrestling another man at a bar.
Poirier has served as a model citizen in MMA, often praised for his charity work and class inside and outside the cage. He has no other known run-ins with the law.
Poirier has not competed since he retired in July, hanging up the gloves on a career that included 32 UFC appearances, 15 performance bonuses, and an interim lightweight title.
